Clinical Solutions Specialist

Department: Monitoring Nurse Executive

The Clinical Solutions Specialist (CSS) is responsible for working with both the Account Executive and Senior Nurse Executives (SNE) to support the sales cycle. In collaboration with these teams, one key component of this role is to provide clinical product support, education, and consultation to newly hired AE’s and members of the Clinical Consulting Services team. As requested by the team, consultation and support will be offered to current and prospective NK customers during the sales process. This includes but is not limited to assisting with complex clinical assessments and quote consultations as they relate to configuration, in-depth high acuity functionality and clinical equipment interfacing. In addition, the CSS will be a key resource for clinical evaluations on live patients as well as a resource for clinical product training/re-training and vendor related events. Also expected to support the marketing, clinical and hospital in messaging to both monitoring prospects and established customers. The Clinical Solutions Specialist may act as a resource for specialty departments and key accounts as the need is presented. The CSS will also support new hire sales training as requested. The CSS may be required to be on call to assist and respond to customer needs on site post-installation.

Essential Functions and Main Duties

  • Serves as a clinical and educational resource to the sales and clinical teams as well as Nihon Kohden current and prospective customers during the sales and implementation process by:
    • Working directly with newly hired AE’s to observe, educate and mentor on product knowledge, key differentiators, functionality and equipment set up. Participate in teaching at New Hire Sales Training.
    • Making recommendations that will result in the best practice and use of Nihon Kohden America Patient Monitoring Products.
    • Identifying and communicating opportunities for product improvement using direct customer feedback.
    • Answering technical product questions and works with AE’s to facilitate highest possible patient outcomes.
    • Providing feedback as requested to marketing, clinical and service teams regarding clinical applications of patient monitoring equipment, troubleshooting issues, clinical problem solving, new product and software updates and releases.
    • Independently and in coordination with the Senior Nurse Executive, participate in key account sales presentations, demonstrations, clinical evaluations, and clinical re-training when purchased by the customer.
  • Provides pre-sale support to the Patient Monitoring sales team:
    • In collaboration with SNE, provide clinical input to facilitate technology adoption and workflow change management.
  • Collaborates with SNE when he/she conducts complex clinical assessment, assists with differentiating how NK products impact monitoring practices, organizational workflows, safety, clinical quality, and financial goals.
  • Proficient in articulating the benefits of the Nihon Kohden products and Clinical Excellence Services.
  • Remain on-call to assist and troubleshoot customer issues on site when needed.
  • Assist Clinical Application Specialist with troubleshooting and follow up post-installation as needed.
  • Participate in the pre-site planning as accounts transition from pre-sale to implementation.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Nurse Executive, participate in quote reviews to ensure quote accuracy.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time based on business need.

Qualifications

Education / Certification / Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Active RN license issued within the U.S.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record
  • CPHQ Certification and completion of the Clinical Consulting Academy within 18 months of hire
  • 3+ years of experience in critical care nursing and relevant industry experience
  • Level and compensation depends on location, experience, education and skills

    • Ability to effectively articulate benefits/features related to all NK PM products to individuals or in group settings
    • Thorough understanding of and ability to demonstrate NK PM products
    • Participate in and have thorough understanding of clinical evaluation and clinical assessment processes
  • Ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Outlook to include Word, Power Point and Excel Programs.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret equipment manuals, general business periodicals or professional journals
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to effectively use technology to present information to customers
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, and to receive and understand verbal and written instructions in English
  • Able to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment

Compensation

Your Total Target Compensation (TTC) is composed of a $113,000 base salary and incentives for achieving your sales Quota, paid per the Plan as Variable Incentive (Commission) and Quota Attainment Bonus.

Working Conditions

Schedule: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, unless otherwise stated by the department manager. Holiday, weekend, and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the organization or department and are subject to change at any time at the Company’s discretion.

Physical: Generally may require some reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, standing, walking, sitting, hearing, visual acuity, color vision, and 2-way written/verbal communication in English. More specific details may be provided as needed or requested.

Location: Must reside in assigned territory of Houston, TX

Travel: Approximately 70%

Access to Customer Sites: It is an essential function of this position to perform duties in healthcare facilities, and to achieve the necessary vendor credentialing. As part of this process, it is typically required to provide proof of vaccinations (including for COVID-19), and related personal medical information, and to comply with other criteria as needed to be able to work at customer sites. Typical vendor credentialing expenses will be paid/reimbursed by the Company.
